We Couldn’t Help It

In agreement with your Daddy, sometimes we do dress you up like you’re a toy.

An Ewok toy, to be precise.

BUT we promise we’ll restrain ourselves… many times.

This is not one such time.

In fact, Rachael and I have been planning this for months. We designed and printed your outfit, went to the market and found the hat material (your ears are a bath mat and your hat a sheet). And then we sewed it all together, creating a pattern based on mashing together a couple of tutorials online (with Abi’s design eye help). We even intentionally made it big so we could dress you in it for many months. So technically we conspired against you before you were even born.

But thankfully you don’t appear to mind. 😉

Oh how we love our little Ewok.

From our Home to Yours

We just wanted to share some more pictures of our homeschool days.

What a blessing it is to learn and grow together.

We’ve had many great hands-on discoveries – and some were even quite tasty!

It may be listening to Vivaldi’s Winter movement in Four Seasons and painting a winter scene (even if I had to explain what Northern Hemisphere winter means – hah!), writing and drawing without hands, learning the most tasty chemistry around, enjoying classical music on headphones during some reading time, learning about blood analysis at a local clinic, planting herbs, reading endless books (especially to cats), exfoliating with mud creations, playing ancient civilization games, celebrating Biblical feasts (not pictured but in previous posts), science experiments with Daddy, computer reading lessons, learning the ukelele, Portuguese classes with a youth from the Maxixe church, but we just wanted to share the joy of discovery with you all.

What a privilege it is to discover!

Thank you for journeying with us.

Eating Turtles

While studying turtles for homeschooling, we had this yummy turtle snack.

A little peanut butter, chocolate chips, butterscotch chips and bread cut out into turtle pieces can sure go a long way. =)

Wordless Wednesday: Our Spiderman

Today’s nursery rhyme dress up day in Big Guy’s Kindergarten class. So naturally he picked something AWESOME for me to make.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Paper says: “… Along came a spider, who sat down beside her, and frightened Miss Muffet away.”

He was elated and kept saying “Ahhhhhh” while I assembled it on him.

He couldn’t have cared less that they were repurposed socks. =)

– Love him.

Ice Paint

Rachael had a friend, Danielle, over for a play date. The night before we had prepped some ice paint (food colored water and popsicle sticks poked through aluminum foil for stability in the ice-cube trays).

I got the idea off of Rachael’s Sunday School paper.

Funny how fun simple can be.
