I couldn’t sleep.<\/p>\n
Somewhere, sometime that night the baby began to have nightmares.<\/p>\n
She’d cry out in the silence.<\/p>\n
She was so restless.<\/p>\n
Thrashing.<\/p>\n
We’d pet her hair.<\/p>\n
We’d call out a gentle word of assurance.<\/p>\n
Sometimes she’d quiet down.<\/p>\n
Time would pass and then another incident.<\/p>\n
So I just scooped her up.<\/p>\n
She called for her baby and her sippy cup.<\/p>\n
Security.<\/p>\n
The friends came too.<\/p>\n
She snuggled down into her spot.<\/p>\n
Right there in the middle of us.<\/p>\n
Her little head pressing into my shoulder.<\/p>\n
Her body calm.<\/p>\n
Throughout the night it continued.<\/p>\n
Every time I’d roll over.<\/p>\n
Her little head.<\/p>\n
Pressing in closer.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
We’re packing again.<\/p>\n
Her world is confusing right now.<\/p>\n
Uncertain.<\/p>\n
But she just kept pressing into me.<\/p>\n
Grounding herself in my security.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
During the restless nights of change.<\/p>\n
When it hurts and I miss my people.<\/p>\n
When I can’t possibly comprehend the task laid before us.<\/p>\n
When I find my world flipping again.<\/p>\n
Right there in the middle.<\/p>\n
God, help me to press into Jesus.<\/p>\n
Grounding myself in His security.<\/p>\n
For there I find my place.<\/p>\n
There I find my calm.<\/p>\n
Pressing in closer.<\/p>\n
