{"id":17666,"date":"2017-01-10T13:08:08","date_gmt":"2017-01-10T11:08:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/todayslegacy.wordpress.com\/2017\/01\/10\/in-the-middle-of-it-all\/"},"modified":"2017-01-10T13:08:08","modified_gmt":"2017-01-10T11:08:08","slug":"in-the-middle-of-it-all","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/todayslegacy.net\/index.php\/2017\/01\/10\/in-the-middle-of-it-all\/","title":{"rendered":"In the Middle of it All"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It hits me every time.<\/p>\n<p>When I walk into the kitchen and see her scraping the peanut butter container clean.<\/p>\n<p>She cannot see any food go to waste.<\/p>\n<p>Even the peanut butter film on the inside of the jar I tried to scrape clean.<\/p>\n<p>Even the half-eaten toddler snacks are added to her plate.<br \/>\nIt&#8217;s seen in his asking.<\/p>\n<p>That pot of jet black rice fuming on the back porch.<\/p>\n<p>A mistake waiting to be cool enough for the trash.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Don&#8217;t throw it out. I&#8217;ll eat it.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>And he did.<\/p>\n<p>I don&#8217;t even know how he got it down.<br \/>\nFood security looks different in different places.<\/p>\n<p>For some it&#8217;s the &#8220;no waste&#8221; moto.<\/p>\n<p>And then for some it&#8217;s digging in the trash.<br \/>\nIt affects us too, but in different ways.<\/p>\n<p>It looks like sacking the stale bread in a plastic bag to deshard it in the trash<\/p>\n<p>Because we know that someone will find it and eat it.<\/p>\n<p>And I just can&#8217;t bear the thought of it being mixed with coffee grounds.<\/p>\n<p>Even the most lowly is a delight to Our Father.<br \/>\nIt looks like intentionally having leftovers to share.<\/p>\n<p>And having a bag of coins in our car for the next beggar to knock at the window<\/p>\n<p>with a blind grandparent holding onto their shoulder.<\/p>\n<p>Some beggars are adults,<\/p>\n<p>but many are children trying to provide for a sick or lame grandparent.<br \/>\nFood security.<\/p>\n<p>Poverty.<\/p>\n<p>Such heavy weights all around us.<\/p>\n<p>So much to pray for.<\/p>\n<p>So much to honor Jesus in.<\/p>\n<p>&#8230; So much to wrestle with.<br \/>\nAnd yet I am also so thankful for the privilege<\/p>\n<p>Of wrestling with how and when to help.<\/p>\n<p>Because in our heads and in our lives<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s all His anyway.<br \/>\n<i>Lord, please help us to live Luke 12:48 well<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>in the middle of it all.<\/i><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It hits me every time.
